Packaging

  • 1 gift box or tin lined
  • 4 to 5 small airtight jars or bags

Instructions

Prep the components

  • Make or gather each snack so everything is completely cool. Warm snacks steam inside a closed jar and go soft by morning.
  • Portion into jars: savory crunch, dry fruit, and light extra each get their own jar. Soft sweets go in a small tin or parchment-lined box so they do not get crushed. Baked namkeen can share a tin if the pieces are sturdy.
  • Wipe jar rims. Seal lids tightly. Label each jar (chivda, dry fruit, peda) so the recipient does not open the sweet first looking for namkeen.

Pack the box

  • Line the gift box with kraft paper, tissue, or a folded cloth. Add a little shredded paper if jars will rattle.
  • Nest the heaviest jars first (dry fruit, chivda). Tuck namkeen and sweets where they will not sit under weight. Slip the note along the side, not under a heavy jar.
  • Add ribbon or twine. Optional: a pinch of dried rose petals on top of the tissue for color. Close the lid gently. Shake once. If you hear hard knocking, add more filler.

Gift day

  • Keep soft dairy sweets in the fridge until you leave, then nest them in the box last. Shelf-stable jars can sit packed overnight at cool room temperature.

Notes

Dry crunchy snacks stay best 5 to 7 days airtight once packed.
Soft sweets follow their own recipe storage (often 2 to 3 days refrigerated). Add fridge sweets just before gifting.
Do not pack wet items such as chutneys, cut fruit, or yogurt dips in a closed gift box.
If namkeen softens overnight, re-crisp on a baking sheet at 300°F (150°C) for 5 to 8 minutes, cool fully, and re-pack dry.
