We already love peri peri on paneer in this kitchen, and the peri peri paneer sandwich is on repeat. Last week I whisked the same lime-chilli energy into cold Greek yogurt, glanced at the peri peri masala jar on the shelf, and had a sauce ready before the rice finished steaming.
This Peri Peri Garlic Yogurt Sauce is creamy, punchy, and whisked together in five minutes. This peri peri yogurt sauce brings heat and cooling yogurt in the same spoonful: thick enough for wraps, thin enough to drizzle over a grain bowl.

Why You’ll Love This Peri Peri Yogurt Sauce
- Familiar peri peri flavour in a lighter, high-protein base
- Whisked in five minutes with no stove
- Works thick on wraps or thinned over bowls
- Vegetarian with an easy vegan swap
- Keeps up to 3 days in the fridge

Ingredients
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 jalapeño, deseeded and chopped (or 2 tsp peri peri sauce)
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 2 garlic cloves, grated
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- Pinch salt
Vegan swap: Plant yogurt + maple syrup.
How to Make It
Use chilled yogurt and whisk until completely smooth before adding anything else. Cold dairy holds its shape and the sauce stays creamy instead of turning loose and watery.
Stir in finely chopped jalapeño or peri peri sauce, lime juice, garlic powder, fresh garlic, water, honey, and salt. Rest 5–10 minutes so the heat and lime distribute evenly.
Taste, then adjust: add another splash of water for a pourable wrap sauce, or an extra ½ tsp peri peri sauce if you want more fire. I usually stop at one deseeded jalapeño for our table and save the seeds for my own bowl.

Perfect For
- Peri peri paneer leftovers and lunch wraps
- Tandoori cauliflower quinoa bowls when you want a cool drizzle on warm veg
- Roasted potato or sweet potato grain bowls
- Spooned over dal-rice with jeera rice when you want heat with cooling yogurt
- Alongside cucumber raita on a thali-style spread (one cooling, one fiery)

Notes
FAQs
Q1. Store-bought peri peri instead of jalapeño?
Yes. Start with 2 tsp and add more to taste after the rest period.
Q2. Can I use peri peri masala powder?
Yes. Whisk ½–1 tsp into the yogurt with the lime and honey, then taste. Masala gives a dry-spice depth; bottled peri peri sauce is wetter and saltier, so you may need less salt.
Q3. Too garlicky?
Use 1 clove and skip the garlic powder.
Q4. Vegan?
Yes. Use thick plant yogurt and maple syrup. Check the peri peri sauce label for honey.
Q5. Storage?
Up to 3 days refrigerated in a tight jar. Stir before serving; thin with water if it thickens.
This peri peri garlic yogurt sauce is the jar I reach for when sandwiches need something cooler than straight peri peri paste and bowls need more protein than oil-only dressing. Do you prefer it thick on wraps or thinned over rice?
