By Heta Updated June 23, 2026

High-protein peanut laddoo with oats, protein powder, and chia — a no-bake post-workout bite with about 6g protein per laddoo.

Some afternoons in our kitchen, I want something sweet that does not mean standing over a kadai for an hour. That is when I reach for no-bake laddoo: the same round, hand-held comfort as mithai, mixed in a bowl and rolled in ten minutes.

This high protein ladoo is the post-workout snack I actually look forward to. Protein powder hides in peanut butter and oats, so it feels like a treat, not a chore.

Why No-Bake Laddoo Belong in an Indian Kitchen

Traditional laddoo (besan, coconut, boondi) taught us that a sweet can be small, satisfying, and built from pantry staples. These modern energy laddoo borrow that same logic: nuts or oats for substance, dates or honey for sweetness, and spices or cocoa when you want flavour beyond plain sugar.

Same round laddoo shape my kids recognize, but built for recovery after a workout or a long walk. If you like make-ahead protein snacks, our Kesar Badam Chia Pudding is another fridge-friendly favourite with a similar no-stove mood.

Nutrition Highlights

  • No refined flour — built on oats, peanut butter, and chia
  • About 6 g protein per laddoo — whey or pea protein both work
  • Fiber and healthy fats from oats, peanut butter, and chia seeds
  • Naturally vegetarian with easy vegan swaps noted below
  • Make-ahead friendly — batch on Sunday, snack all week
  • Portion-controlled — one laddoo is one serving, not a tray you keep picking from
  • Perfect for post-workout refuel, lunchboxes, or chai time alongside Cucumber Peanut Koshimbir

From my kitchen: I store these in a steel dabba in the fridge. Cold laddoo roll smoother and taste less cloying than room-temperature ones. On my first batch, the mix felt too dry until I added milk one teaspoon at a time.

Notes

Plant-based protein powders vary in absorbency — adjust milk as needed.
Use unflavoured pea protein plus 1/2 tsp vanilla if you dislike sweet protein powders.
Vegan swap — maple syrup and plant milk; use vegan protein powder.
Store in the fridge up to 5 days — protein powder flavour is best fresh.

FAQs

Can I make this vegan?
Yes. Swap honey for maple syrup, use plant milk, and choose a vegan protein powder. Natural peanut butter works best when it is just peanuts and salt.

Can I make this ahead?
Yes. These are designed for meal prep. Roll the full batch, chill, and grab through the week.

My mixture is too dry to roll. What do I do?
Add liquid one teaspoon at a time — milk, water, or extra peanut butter — until the mix holds together when squeezed.

How long do these keep?
Store in an airtight container in the fridge up to 5 days. See the recipe Notes for the best flavour window.

Which protein powder works best?
Vanilla whey or pea protein both work. Avoid very chalky brands — taste the mix before rolling all the laddoo.

Your Turn

I love that a high protein ladoo can feel like mithai without the marathon cooking session. Roll a batch this week and tell me: do you prefer them straight from the fridge or at room temperature?
